ESA XR Conference 2026
How can complex and safety-critical knowledge be communicated and taught effectively?
For more than 30 years, benntec has been developing didactically sound training solutions
for complex technical systems. Extended Reality (XR) now opens up new possibilities to deliver knowledge in an immersive, practical and efficient way.
From 17 to 18 March 2026, benntec will participate in the ESA XR Conference at the European Astronaut Centre (ESA-EAC) in Cologne – an international meeting point for experts from the space sector, research and industry focusing on virtual, augmented and mixed reality.
With our presentation, “Enhancing Mission Readiness through XR Training and Interactive
Digital Twins”, we contribute to the ongoing discussion on XR-supported training concepts
for mission-critical systems. The approach combines immersive VR simulations with interactive
digital twins to make complex system structures easier to understand and to enable realistic training for safety-critical procedures.
Astronauts, engineering teams and technical personnel can practise maintenance and
operational procedures in a safe virtual environment, gain deeper insight into system behaviour
and prepare for rare or critical scenarios. The approach builds on proven training concepts developed by benntec, which have already been successfully implemented in mission-critical operational environments within military aviation, naval operations and land forces. These established methods are now being transferred to future applications in the space sector.
